As we have noted in the attached material, many Gen X and Y people leave their job not because there is a compelling reason to leave but because there is no compelling reason to stay. This is a vivid image of Gen X and Y employees.
Let’s discuss this scenario, if Gen X and Y employees consider their stay in current organization transactional, it would be a strong reason for them to leave the company when they are not getting considerable monetary rewards (a typical transactional strategy). Actually, as we have gone through, this is not the case. In a recent McCrindle research study of 20-24 year olds, salary didn’t even make it into the top five factors regarding a prospective job! Also as we have discussed, they like to do jobs with professional growth and development, work/life balance, variety, social interaction, responsibility and input or so. We can hardly ‘smell’ any transactional ‘scent’ in all these words. |
