had to send it back
The picture was terrific, but it kept shutting down while watching DVD's. No problem watching TV. I checked on the web and many others had the same problem. Called Mitsubishi, who were very good and they told me to return it (no real explanation). I sent it back to Amazon for a refund. Amazon was very good with the return.

I can't stand color-wheel effects, March 10, 2010

This is the second projector I have owned -- I really like projectors for their compactness and convenience. Plus you can get a HUGE image. The first projector was an Epson xga projector -- 1024x768 which was awesome before 1080p projectors came out. However, I got spoiled by 3LCD technology. It provides an absolutely stable image.
When I decided I was ready to splurge on a 1080p model, I read reviews of the ~$1000 models and settled on this one at $1300. Nobody mentioned the color-wheel effects in the reviews I read, except one review that suggested they were "slight", so I figured I wouldn't mind. I was wrong.
When I move my eyes on white-on-black text I easily see the red, green and blue images separate, and I find it very annoying. You should really see one in person before deciding to buy, since (apparently) it doesn't bother some people. On the other hand, your guests might find it irritating and for that reason alone I recommend splurging a bit on a 3LCD model - I returned this and bought the Epson 8100 at around $300 more -- it is awesome! (For me, a perk of a projector is that it makes you popular as a host of "movie nights")
Another gotcha of this projector is that it is intended to be mounted either below or above the projected image. I built a shelf for it to be centered on my screen and that was useless -- the device cannot be set up to accomodate this positioning! I suggest planning on ceiling mounting this device. |

Defected product due to no image from the begining, returned the item and requested for refund thus far. |
