Latrell Sprewell scored 13 of his team-high 29 points in the fourth quarter as the Timberwolves defeated the Nuggets 93-83 on the road Friday. Minnesota went on a 13-6 run in the closing minutes to seal the victory. Kevin Garnett flirted with a triple-double, posting 15 points, 10 boards and seven assists.

A highlight-reel team effort in the last seconds gave Chicago an 86-84 win over New York on Saturday at the United Center. Andres Nocioni blocked a shot, Tyson Chandler saved the ball from going out of bounds, Kirk Hinrich caught it and launched it downcourt to Nocioni, who dished to Eddy Curry for a tie-breaking layup with 2.4 seconds left. Chandler then blocked a Knicks shot in the final tick to seal the victory. Curry scored 17 points; Ben Gordon had 16, and Hinrich tallied 15 and 11 assists.

Phoenix stared at a double-digit deficit halfway through the first quarter and couldn't overtake the defending champions the rest of the way in a 94-80 road loss to the Pistons on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Joe Johnson scored 17 points to lead the Suns, who managed only 11 assists as a team without the injured Steve Nash.

Chicago, which trailed by as many as 11 in the 88-86 victory, got 13 points from Gordon in the final frame and had three players—Kirk Hinrich, Luol Deng and Andres Nocioni—record double-doubles.
