Martin’s Layup Beats Buzzer, Lifts Kings

Martin finished with 10 points and six rebounds.

Kevin Martin's off-balance layup bounced around and fell through as time expired, giving the Kings a hard-fought 94-93 home victory over San Antonio in Game 3 on Friday. Sacramento responded in what amounted to a must-win situation, and now can even the best-of-seven series at two games apiece with a win on Sunday. Mike Bibby tallied 25 points and eight assists, Ron Artest had 22 and 12 rebounds and Bonzi Wells finished with 19 and 14.

Dirk Nowitzki sparkled down the stretch, scoring 24 of his 36 points in the second half and overtime as Dallas moved within one win of the Western Conference Semifinals with a thrilling 94-89 win at Memphis on Saturday. Nowitzki drained a game-tying 3-pointer with 15.7 seconds left in regulation and added five points in the extra period. Jason Terry added 22 points and Josh Howard had 16, including a huge trey to start OT. The Mavs can complete the sweep with a road victory on Monday in Game 4.

Los Angeles jumped out to an 11-point halftime lead and then coasted to a 100-86 road playoff victory over Denver on Saturday. Corey Maggette led seven Clippers in double figures with 19 points, while Shaun Livingston added 16 points and six assists. Elton Brand chipped in with 11 points and 10 rebounds for L.A., which looks to clinch the series on Monday at home
