Warriors Escape With Win After Rockets’ Run

Baron Davis scored 23 and averaged 20 in December.


Golden State built a 16-point lead in the third quarter Saturday, and almost gave it all back before hanging on for a 94-89 win in Houston. Baron Davis and Jason Richardson scored 23 and 22, respectively, and rookie Ike Diogu scored seven of his 13 in the fourth quarter.

Celtics Rout Clippers to Close Out 2K5
The Celtics used a huge second-quarter surge to propel them to an easy 111-92 victory over the Clippers on Saturday. Boston quieted the home crowd by outscoring Los Angeles by 17 points to close out the first half. Six Celtics scored in double figures, led by Ricky Davis' 20 points and Paul Pierce's 19.

The Sonics staged a furious fourth-quarter comeback, but Memphis held on for a 100-96 win on Saturday. Seattle was led by the hot hand of Ray Allen, who shot 11-of-18 from the field and finished with 28 points. The Sonics tip off the new year at Indiana on Monday

Heat Blaze Past Wolves

Dwyane Wade and the Heat rallied past the Wolves.
Trailing by three points at halftime, the HEAT outscored the visiting Timberwolves by 17 in the third quarter of Sunday's 97-70 win. Dwyane Wade led the charge for Miami, scoring 19 points, handing out nine assists and pulling down six rebounds. Shaquille O'Neal added 16 points and Alonzo Mourning posted a double-double in the victory

Kirilenko scored 23 points and Mehmet Okur added 16 and eight rebounds as the Jazz extended their season-high winning streak to four games with a 98-94 triumph over the shorthanded Los Angeles Lakers, who played their first game without suspended All-Star guard Kobe Bryant.
Bryant was suspended for two games after elbowing Memphis swingman Mike Miller in the throat in the fourth quarter of Wednesday's 100-99 loss here.

Clippers Gain First Win In Portland Since 1999

Kaman's two free throws iced the game with seven seconds left.

For the first time in six years, the Clippers won in Portland, stopping the Blazers 100-94 on Sunday. Los Angeles had lost 12 consecutive in Portland until Sunday, before Chris Kaman nailed two free throws with seven seconds remaining to ice the Clippers' victory. Cuttino Mobley scored 23 points, while Sam Cassell added 22. Both Elton Brand and Kaman posted double-doubles, with Brand notching 20 points and 11 boards, while Kaman had 14 and 15.

Dixon had a game-high 24 points on 11-of-18 shooting Sunday.

Without Jermaine O'Neal (pneumonia) and Jamaal Tinsley (injured right arm), the shorthanded Pacers nevertheless rolled up their highest point total of the season in routing Seattle 115-96 Monday night in Conseco Fieldhouse. Fred Jones scored 26, Stephen Jackson 22 and Sarunas Jasikevicius 20 for the Pacers.
