Was the German soldier our heroes let go in the middle of the movie the same guy who shoots one of our men towards the end of the movie and in return gets killed by Coporal Upham?
Yes. This is the same German soldier! What an ***hole!
Was this the same German soldier that sinks a knife into Mellish's heart and walks by Coporal Upham on the stairs?
No. That was a different soldier. If you think about it, if it had been the same soldier, Upham probably would have recognized him at that point. My guess is, had it been the same German, Upham and the German would have had a confrontation at that point. But as Raymond Murphy reports:
"'Steamboat Willie' was indeed the soldier let go who then comes back to kill Captain Miller (Tom Hanks). But the 'Knifer' who killed Mellish (Jewish soldier) was a different soldier. Steamboat Willie was in the Weirmarcht (forgive my spelling) or regular army, while the Knifer was an SS soldier. |
